whats the correct way to break in a tranny

Well I just bought a rebuilt tranny (6 months old) that has been sitting for about a year w/o tranny fluid in it.

from a stop getting into a gear is a bit hard once a get moving its ok.
I think it need to be broken in since its been sitting so long. whats the correct way to do this. i'm going to put like 100 miles on it then change the fluid again to see if that helps.
any info will be appreciated.

Technically trannies don't need to be broken in, but those that are tend to last longer under abuse from what I've seen. It would be a good idea to drive on that fluid for a while (I'd go 500 miles) and then change it. It should loosen up as it gets miles on it.

500 miles later, changed the fluid, still hard.
anyone have/had this problem with a rebuilt tranny being hard to shift?

what type of fluid are you using... i've heard a lot of good things about bg syncroshift II,

if thats what you're using, than nevermind me

I've been having a lot of trouble getting into gears (especially first and second); after rebuilding my clutch pedal assembly tonight, it's much happier.

So make sure your problem isn't clutch (dis)egagement.
