Sometimes from 1st to 2nd it grinds but somtimes it doesn't. My friend told me i should go around second and down and it works sometimes, but i wanna just go straight down. What should i do so i can not worry about grinding.

If it grinds, then the second gear synchros need to be replaced at a minimum. Where in PA are you located? I'm in Philly and have a lot of practice rebuilding trannies.
