So a few weeks ago when my transmission ####ed up I was on the look out for a used tranny to use. Well I couldn't find any from a 97 so asked and was told I could use from 91-98 and would fit fine. Well come to find out after spending $750 on the tranny and $600 to get it redone and installed, it doesn't fit. The transmission shop says there is no way in hell its going to fit cause it won't bolt up to the bellhop or the mounts. So WTF, does it work or not, all the DSM guys say yea as well as my friends, even when I posted on here they said yea, but now i'm stuck with a transmission that don't fit, a mechanic bill thats going through the roof(reinstall another one, change seals and all, storage fee etc...) and a car that hasn't been on the street for almost 3 weeks now over a ####in transmission!! Anybody know why it wouldn't fit when everyone else thinks it does?? I drive a 97 GS-T and the transmission was out of a 93 GS-T. Any help, suggestion or ways to kill myself???

Maybe if you did your research first. And get yourself some new DSM friends because obviously they don't know shit about these cars.

2G trannies have 3 of the 4 engine mounts. 1G trannies have only 1 since the 3 mounts are in the block. Therefore if you use a 2G block with a 1G Tranny, you would only have 2 engine mounts. Not good. In fact, don't do it.

You can swap them the other way no problem: 2G tranny into a 1G.

I asked the same thing on here about 3 weeks ago and we all decided it was a no go on a 1g tranny in a 2g
