I seem to run into a couple of problems. some of them routinely. Any tips would be nice.
First, trying to take front cv joints out and the spindle is rusted stuck in the hub, tried using a puller, did nothing other than almost kill me... Eventually I tried banging on it with a hammer, while it moved a little, it deformed the spindle more than everything. Finally I just found away around it, I was doing a clutch and I removed the driver cv from the tranny, but not the hub, and then the passenger I got out of the hub, but not the tranny...
2nd, what to do with all those stupid suspension joints that you need to separate with a fork... It seems 1/3 of the bolts I remove on those just end up spinning in place. I'm even using an impact gun. I end up messing up all the rubber and grease because I have to hold the other end with channel locks...
3rd, man oh man... Don't know how I did it, this is a new one for me, but I got a lug popped out, while the tire was being put on. So it is just spinning in place, the bolt already half way on, and no matter how hard I pull on it, it won't seat... That one got cut off...
Two final questions, has anyone found any tricks for these? The spindle wasn't that big of a deal, but next time, if I can't just go around it, I'lll need a better line of attack.
Second, what to the dealers/shops do when they hit these problems. If the book says 8 hours for a clutch, but my car has bolts so rusted that they are forced to take extreme measures, do they charge more? I don't really go to shops so I don't know.
