automatic tranny, turbo/non turbo, fwd; any differences? have '92 laser, fwd, auto, non turbo. what auto's work. which is best 4 performance. i like to launch, butpowering out of curves is important, too. thanks for any help!!!
 
All of these units are different and don't intrechange. Furthermore, even amoung these types of units there are internal differences between different years and models that prevent interchange( planetary gear ratio, final drive ratio, wiring etc.) The best bet is to look at the tag number located on the side of the case by the cooler lines- that will tell you what exact unit that you're dealing with (your's should be a F4A21 or F4A22 but there are also other numbers on the tag that give the specifics about the particular model). Fortunately, any of the units can be upgraded to provide better shift quality and launch characteristics.
