Has anyone every had this problem? When I'm driving harder than cruising speed; everyonce in a while as I shift into 4th, the shifter pops right out. (only happens in 4th and driving hard)

I still have warranty, so I'm crossing my fingers.

car: 97 GS-T engine and driveline are completey stock and has 65,000 miles.

HAVE THE SAME EXACT #### EXACTLY THE SAME!!! Began over the summer, would randomly pop out of gear, then as it progressed it would refuse to go into gear, it is ONE of two things.

#1 you bent a shift fork and everytime you shift it gets worse and worse till you have a broken fork that'll blow a hole in ypour tranny.

#2 You need a new Hub and sleeve, it is the thing that actually moves the fork,

Get your repairs done at Mitus before it is too late.

I will be taking it into Mitsu probably on mon or tues...thanks for the reply and hope my secondary extended warrantary covers it!

its there as I type this....waiting for a call in the next hour. will post my findings tomorrow!

-----GOOD NEWS------

synchros are bad and the forks are (i think he said) crushed. My secondary warranty will cover the either rebuild or replacement! All I owe is 200.00 for my deductable.

Let the fixin' begin!!!

I had that problem with my sunfire a while ago. It would pop out of gears while driving and then got really hard to shift. One day as I was driving it starting making a really loud noise so I slowed down pulled off to the side of the road still coasting the front tires locked right up, making a black mark for about 5 feet. The problem I had was the shift fork broke right off and fell into the gears and grinded itself right in. The only thing that made me happy about the situation was the fact that I pulled over and slowed down when I did. Glad to hear that the dealership is gonnna fix it for you.

i have a new pressureplate, fork throw out bearing, the whole works. yesterday i was driving it and all of a sudden it started to pop out of gear. i shifted to 4th and it poped right back out. it wont stay in at all. can anyone help???

I had new bearings, syncros and new forks installed under warranty. All is good now and feels like I get more power to the ground now (which is a +)
