Holden,
Well I was driving home yesterday doing a steady 45 mph and all of a sudden I heard this whinning/howling from the rear of the car. I pulled over and stopped looked under the car and didn't see any fluids or anything all over the road, so I got back and drove slowly again. The noise started again at about 35-45 mph. I pulled over and stopped again it went away until I hit 40 again, so I drove home doing about 25 the whole way (it was like a 2 mile ride). I have noticed before that the rear end was leaking fluid a good amount and it has been doing it for some time, So I think it just leaked fluid out and know there is enough of it gone for it to start howling like that. Looking for some input on what you might think it is? Thanks alot guys.

No one has any ideas on what else it could be? Also was wondering how many quarts of fluid the rear end takes? Thanks alot.

Sounds like it just leaked all the fluid out, you'll want to take the rear cover off (clean the cover and all the settled shavings) and replace the gasket and make sure to coat it in black RTV (might I suggest Ultra Black) and tighten hand tight. Wait at least 12 hrs/24 is better and tighten to spec. Take out the fill plug and fill till a little fluid comes out the fill hole (usually about .7 quart) (use some cheap gear oil for this!) Drive about 10 miles then drain and replace the fluid with Redline Super Heavy Weight or Royal Purple 75-90 gear oil.

Hope that helps ya! :D
