T-case filled with grease not oil, axle grease or ball joint grease WTF!?!?

Well i took it off to upgrade my trans and the ####ing t case is full of grease.

Anyone heard of such a thing?

I looked everything over and no metal shavings or teeth where present or damage was obvious.

Works fine and still ran good but i want to know WTF!?!

Any some one can help.

Nope not rust aluminum does not rust all it is is the charred remains of the grease that was used.


All of it flakes off but under neath it is just warped metal from heat.
 
That seriously looks like water damaged gear oil that has been driven on for a couple of years.

The bevel gear is steel and your oil was gear oil not grease, doesn't that remind you of a BHG when water mixes with
oil?
