rebuilding tranny..why and how?

have been reading alot of threads but cant find a real good one to answer my Q:
At what powerrange are the tranny in danger of blowing/braking?
What does the shops do when they rebuild them for stronger and longer hold?(hard to ship my tranny to US from Europe for rebuilding so I must know what they do to make a swedish shop do it here)
How many trackraces will the stock tranny hold up to when say 350crank HP is in the engine?With a ACT2100clutch in there.
Any ideas on how to save the tranny in the best way?

I am thinking of short shifter kit and changin the busshings on the shifterplate.will that help or not in any way?
 
The shifter and bushings will not prolong your tranny life, they will just make the shifter feel different. And there is no real answer to your questions about how much power it can hold, how many races it can live thru, etc. There are many many variables involved. It may last thru many races putting down 300-400 hp, or it may break after only a few 250hp races. When it finally does break, then you will know.

Some of the things shops do to make them last longer include stronger gears, steel shift rails and shift forks (instead of the weak stock aluminum ones), double synchros, etc.

Thanx for the links ..its appreciated alot! maybe I can get a shop here to help me out so I can get a tranny that holds up.I got a brand new stock ttranny installed after a breakdown (insurance claim) so I will try to get it done asap to make this new one hold up for the best.Does any one know if there is any difference in the JDM trannys and the US ones? I got my tranny sent here from Japan....so I was just wondering..
