I was reading on the VFAQ ( http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Trannies.html ) and from what I've seen all the 1g awd cars had the same rear end gear ratios? Id just like a little confirmation on this before I do the swap and start breaking stuff. The reason I'm asking is because I bought a car (92 gsx) that originaly came with a 4 bolt rear. I have a 90 awd tsi and I was wondering if I could just pull the 3 bolt from it and use it in my 92 until I can afford to buy a 4bolt for it. If not I guess I could just use the entire drivetrain from the 90. Id just rather use the 23 spline setup from the 92. Any input would be great.

Rob, there were TWO gear ratios placed in either the 4 bolt or 3 bolt. Automatic gear ratios are different from 5 speeds. The 5 speed ratio is 3.545. The auto ratio is 3.307 . Im saying screw the 90 stuff, go ahead and change to 23 spline. The driveshaft length will still be the same, along with the yoke size. everything should match up. hope that helped

I suppose I should have stated that both are 5 speed cars. So the 3 bolt from the 90 should work with my 23 spline setup since they were both 5 speeds and should have 3.545? I'll make sure that the gears in the 3bolt are 3.545 and if they are I should be good to go.
