90 vs. 91-94 Shifter Equipment?

I want to switch from 90 shifter equipment (assembly, cables, brackets) to 91-94 equipment for shorter throw. My Talon is a 94 and the transmission is a 90. I originally thought I had to use 90 stuff because one of the shifter arms (on the 90) cannot be removed/swapped. I have since learned that only the one bracket needs to be changed. Questions:

Cables the same?
Can I just change the one bracket, and not the one requiring removal of roll pin?
Anyone notice a major difference between 90 and 91-94?

I did a brief search and didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks a lot for your help.

I would like to know if you can swap in the 91-94 shifter equipment into a 90 model car?

I have a 90 and I switched over to a 92 trany and needed to install a 91-94 shifter and 91-94 cables and the bracket on the trany were the cable mounts needed to be changed as well. This has been beaten to death an if you use the search you will find others with doing what your doing but others usually switch over to the 91-94 tranys since the 90s are garbage and more expensive to install the double syncro second among other things.

Yes the shifter base mounts are the same on all 1gs but the cable mounts are diffrent. 90 is the only od ball year for the 1gs

Well I just shipped my 90 trans off to be rebuilt, so I am not going to swap tanny's. But from what I gather here. You guys are saying all I have to do is swap out the shifter and linkage in my 90?

All my shifter equipment is from a 94 but my tranny is a 90. I have a 91-94 shifter, cables, and bracet on the tranny. You dont need to change the arms, just the bracket on the tranny that holds the cables.

I thought you had to change the arms, or least one of them?

Also, does anyone have a pick of the 91-94 bracket, because I have a bucket of parts and I don't know which one is correct?

Why not just cut the handle on the 90 shifter and shorten it up? It is a much more solid and well built unit. Taking an inch or two out of the handle would shure shorten your throw.
