Wierd tranny noise

So when i am driving in first gear the car sounds like it is in reverse. also if i get on it in first gear i hear a bang coming from the pass front tire area and also on the 1-2 shift. i put the car up on a lift and checked the transfer case to see if the fluid was low but it's fine. i then took the front wheel and started to spin it maybe about 30 degrees. when i do that i can hear a loud noise like a lash coming from the tranny near where my center diff is. I have a 4-spider center diff that has about 3-4k on it and only about 6 launches. any input would be great.

since you say that it sounds like its in reverse when in first and second, that would seem like possibly the bearings and/or gears are worn from the hard launching. i myself am experiencing bearing noise, and i have done the wheel turning thing and i can hear bearing noise coming from my diffs. so maybe this might be the same type of thing with you. i have experienced a clunking noise between accel and decel, and it turned out to be the a-arm was a tad loose. or in another case the bearing races could have enough lash that when under the torque of the engine it could create what you are hearing. im guessing you'll have to check out the tranny a little bit, but i hope this helps you some.

No it doesn't sound like it is in reverse in first and second only right before i come to a complete stop in first gear. I bangs going from 1 to 2. But i am going to take it apart and see if some thing came loose.
