Hey guys,
I'm looking for a new upgraded trans for my 1991 Galant VR4. I had a few questions if I could get answers to any/all that would be great!

1) Is the transmission from a 1G AWD the same as a VR4 trans?
2) Would I be able to use a 1G Trans with out lots of modification?
3) What kind of trans should I get? Anyone have any feedback on their trans for a galant?

I'm looking to replace mine, It's old and my second gear grindds a little bit when I'm driving. Since I'm getting a new trans and want it to be my last I'm looking for it to be a strong one. I've looked at 2 options, Team RIP and Sheps trans. Any others I've missed?

If you aren't building a race car go with a shep stock rebuild. A 1g trans is the same just has a stronger/shorter 1st gear. Although 1g dsm trans do come with different splines so make sure to get one that matchs your xcase.

As long as it's a trans from a 91-94, no modification is necessary and it is a direct bolt in. I have a Team Rip trans in my car, it does what it's supposed to do, which is shift with no grinds.

A third option is a transmission from Dogbox racing. I know a few people who use their transmissions and have nothing but good things to say about them.
