I just replacd my clutch and now i can't seem to get my transmission to bolt back on. Is there some sort of trick to it???? Seems to me it should just slide right on but it won't for some reason. Please help!?!?!

Yeah...its all lined up.....even did it again just to be sure. I take it you have never had a problem like this?

if everything is good to go, then it should slide up perfectly...its probably just some little edge getting stuck somewhere that is conspicuous;)

Never with my 5speed gSX, although I did have similar roble reinstalling the Auto in my Laser Daily driver. I can't remember why, but it just wouldn't slide all the way in. Try a little high temp grease on the tip of the input shaft, just don't use alot. You don't want any to get into the clutch assembly.

Well I just finished a 1G 5 spd tranny install 2 days ago.

that makes 10 total dsm tranny's for me.

I've had this problem several times - it's just a matter of working the problem.

The one I completed - 4 people couldn't get it to go in so I got a call and had it up in 15 minutes. But since it was my 2nd AWD tranny and first 1g I had a problem figureing out how to pull the firewall side of the tranny against the motor. (ie: closing the gap)

Anyway's describe what you can do?

Can you get the tranny to slip into the clutch part? or is it that you can't even get it to go up?

If you can get it get into the clutch part but then won't pull tight agianst the motor. check for clamps or hose's or wire's just anything that will get in the way.

If there's nothing - try putting a couple bolts in place and tightening them down - watch to see if the tranny starts to come together.

usually that in itself will fix most of the problems of it not going on.

Write back your experience's with putting it back on and maybe that will help with more diagnosis.

The tranny is all the way over the clutch....i just can't get it to go that last half inch...maybe less. i had the firewall guide pin in, then I bolted down the other side and the top but it pulled that back side out. The spindle just won't go inside....can't figure out why????????

try going to the other side of the car and using a 1/2 inch breaker bar turn the crank really slowly with someone pushing on the tranny. This will line up the splines and you will get a thunk and the tranny will move when it is all in.

My stupid friend came and took his jack.....dropping my tranny back to the ground. I just finally got another jack and now I can't seem to get it back up into the engine bay.....its always caught on something, the firewall side frame, the AWD spline on the pressure plate. Is there some sort of trick or secret to getting it up there????? Please help, I miss my car!

Finally got my tranny back on.....used an engine hoist! it worked well! Now just have to put the rest back together.
