i can do a 5speed conversion for 1700 and want to know everyones opinion if i should do it or not.im sick of everyone always saying ahh man a automatic that sucks and i know 1/4 mile time the difference is only like .3 sec but still off the line 5speed are quicker so what should i do.

Do you work on your own car? If not, I can sort of understand 1700, but barely. Yes, an auto is slower than a manual, and it gets worse gas mileage, and can not downshift properly, and has reliability issues. Can you drive a car with a manual gear-box? It might be a good plan to purchase a car that already has a manual tranny. Just my $.02

i have too much money put into my car and like it to much to get rid of it and buy another one and yes i do work on my own car but i just wanted everyones opinion whether i should or not

According to Mods:

If you up the boost, install a Translab Kit, Change I/C Piping, install Filter. I believe you would be more than happy in your auto.

ya, just get that turbo kit on your wish list. Thats better then .3 off your ET

if you drag race your car slap a shift kit and high stall converter in the auto and watch the 5spd's cry when you launch faster and shift faster than them all while keeping your revs up

if you autoX your car...sell the auto and buy a 5spd, you'll need the gear selection to get fast times

either way, $1700 for a 5spd conversion is ridiculous
