I am going to be putting a motor into my car and I wanted to do things the right way, even including upgrading the tranny and I was wondering what everyones input is on the best clutch and flywheel for a DSM?

:dsm: THANX:dsm:

Gonna be gettin a new clutch soon and i wanted some good advice on the best one, streetable though. Thanks;)

This is more of a personal preferance thing. I had an ACT 2100 in my Laser and I loved it. It depends on how much power you want to make to. Judgeing from your list of mods I'd suggest an ACT 2100.

Is the ACT clutch worth the xtra $50 over the RAM clutch? Thanks alot for your reply:thumb:

Never used a RAM but i would guess that it would be being that ACT specializes in Clutches.

I personally would go with the ACT 2600 because you're AWD. It's by far the best clutch for the money. I wouldn't mess with the 2100 unless you're a GST and your not so go with the 2600 hands down.

well its 2600 then!thanks for the input i almost went with a 2100 or a ram,Thanks.

same here but i dont think im going to burn it up in the first yr.... maybe 2-3 and then im paying someone to install a 2600 damn man changeing the clutch on our cars is a bi***... not like a RWD camaro eh...

So would it be pointless for me to get an ACT2600??? or would i be perfectly fine with the 2100???

When I originally installed my ACT2100 I was thinking I would only be buying a T28 killer as a turbo upgrade. Well I ended up getting a PTE 50 trim and all it takes is a few launches at 23 psi for this clutch to start slipping a little in 3rd gear. What clutch/disc combo would handle drag launching with the 50 trim without destroying my transmission in the process? A friend of mine suggested an ACT2600 pressure plate with a ceramic disc from clutchmasters, has anybody tried this combo? What other combos would work well for my use?

i think most people with high hp dsms are running act 2600 w/street discs, u dont want a race disc from clutchmasters, it will hold the power and launch really good but its a waste of money to buy a $500 clutch that might last 5 months if ur lucky and dont race much, my friend had one on his stock turbo 2g, he races the car almost every day but 4 months after he installed the clutch he blew the tranny, the gear it threw hit the pressure plate, so we pulled the clutch off, the disc had about a week of daily driving left on it(or about 2 launches) before it went bad
i remember seeing that guy in a mag a few months back(i believe it was the guy from pruven performance that had the fp30 when it was a prototype) that said he tried 25 different clutch combos and the best combo he found was an act 2600 pressure plate with a stock disc, but that car wasnt built for daily driving, it was built for quick ETs
the clutchmasters 2500 is a very good clutch, if u really eed something to hold power and arent worried about how many times a year u have top replace the clutch disc then get either the cm 2500 w/race disc, or an act 2600 w/race disc, but id recomend a street disc cause u will burn those race discs up faster then u can prder replacements if u race alot
