here's the story: My tranny went out on my gvr4, so a buddy gave tranny that he had bought and didnt want it any more. I put that in last week with no hesistation of checkin the clutch. Cause I jus thought my clutch was fine even with my bad tranny so i didnt look at it(bad mistake). i had it all ready to go and the car would roll, but as soon as you start to give it some gas it would jus free rev. so everyone was tellin me i should've check my clutch and replace it. so tuesday I took off my tranny again and took my clutch apart. Yeah, my clutch was toasted so i saw a guy sellin an ACT 2600 clutch with a street disc...and bought it. i got my flywheel resurface and ready for the new clutch. I put it in today with the tranny and now again I have the same problem. It still doesn't go, it will jus start to roll and then free revs as soon as I give gas. Now, when i look at the slave cylinder I can easily remove it off from the clutch fork and the clutch fork can be move back and forth. I thought I wasn't suppose to be able to move the clutch fork at all? i had a new throwout bearing installed and i checked over the clutchfork and it look all fine to me. I'm stuck on what it is right now. I was looking through the forums and thought it could be a slave cylinder or anything with the hydrulic system. I havent adjusted my clutch yet. but would it be so off that i can move my clutch fork? I'm really jus stuck right now...i have no idea what can be wrong. I dont understand how before with my shitty tranny it ran fine even with my gears all screwed up but with this tranny and whatever i've done...it's just working. let me know what i should check and whatever i need to do to cross out so i can get to fix it. THANKS!!!

sorry kinda long...but this is pissin me off

you should be able to move your clutch fork back and forth id say about an inch, inch and a half give or take. i would go ahead and start going through the hydralic system looking for a busted line or a leaky master cylinder.

right, try bleeding the clutch system, and check to see that your slave cylinder is applying pressure to the clutch fork when you press your clutch pedal

Drop the transmission again and check and see if the clutch is slipping. If it is slipping bad enough that you can't even get the car to move then you should be able to see some signs heat damage. If it doesn't seem like the clutch has been slipping at all then try and turn the input shaft on the tranny with the tranny in gear and see if the output shaft turns or not. If not then your trans is probably busted.

Did you put your cv's back in? LOL :thumb:

rear axles were good, i forgot to mention that my clutch pedals feels super soft and it's a 2600. I'm 100% sure there is no air in the lines and my slave cylinder rod is pushin the fork a good amount. fork isn't broken or the rod, so I'm clueless. I havent had too much time to go and look at it more cause it's getting COLD here, I'm starting to jus give up and sell it for DIRT. another question, would i need to adjust the clutch pedal? I heard from somewhere I'm suppose to do it every time you take your tranny out, but I'm not sure.

to make it clear: the car will engage in a gear and start to ROLL and as soon as you give it gas it will FREE REV. It's like the clutch isn't grabbing, but I know the clutch is good hence the new ACT clutch. help me out guys before i give up. thanks

You have either a broken axle, broken rear diff, or broken transfer case. You won't be able to physically see the broken axlem it could be broken inside the axle cup, or your rear diff is just busted on the inside. What you need to do is put the car on jackstands, big nice high quality jack stands. Take All 4 tires and wheels off, and grab a buddy.

Get in the car, start it, and push the clutch in. Have a friend watching the driveshaft under the car. Put it in gear, and release the clutch pedal. The hubs should all 4 be moving. No while this is happening, and everything seems to be ok at this time, hit the brakes, without pushing in the clutch. Watch to see if the driveshaft stops. IF does hovever stop, than there is not a problem in the rear, if it doesn't stop than there is a problem with a rear axle or or the rear diff. I am highly doubting that this is a problem with your clutch.

Try this, and tell me what happens.

Your pedal pressure should be hard not soft. Soft indicates air in the system. it could be possible that your diaphragm on the clutch isn't good because clutch feel should be hard on an ACT 2600. If your CV shaft/transfercase or rear diff was shot, yes your car would not roll and your clutch feel should still be hard not soft.

Did you double check the step height on the flywheel before you installed the new clutch? Its beginning to sound like the surface was machined on the flywheel and not the pp mounting pads. If you decide to check it, the step height should be .610" +/- .002".
