How to tell what year the xfer case is?

How can I tell what year a transfer case came out of on a 2g?

I have a 99 Trans and a 95 Transfer case.. I know your not supposed to do that so Ipicked up another "99 transfer"

How can I verify if it is really a 99 xfer case? What should I do?

22 splines = 89-90
23 splines = 91-95

Open up the 5bolt side cover and the drive gear will just slide out. It should have 27 teeth. The driven gear has 29, which makes for a 1.074 ratio on the 97-99 tcase. I don't know of any outer appearance difference.

I was just curiouse, but does the 97-99 T-cases have 27 spline or 29??? I am trying to locate one and I think I have just the place to get it, I just need to know how to tell them apart. I just got a 97 awd 5spd trans and need the proper xfer case..

And is there a way we can get a spline count for all through the years so other fellow members can find the right answer the first time (myself included)so they dont have to keep reading thread after thread to get it?? Like a sticky or faq or something? Unless I missed it and there is one already? Thanks guys
