ok well i'm looking at clutchs, i have a ACT 2600 with an unsprung 6 puck. i really dont want this combo, i think i need the 6 puck becasue of the power i will be making but i dont want unsprung. the cars not a DD but will get driven quite a bit in the summer. I want to be comfy driveing it but also be able to handl the power and torque with out goin through a clutch every 6 months. so do you guys have in feed back on these 2 clutches, they both are 2500 PP and sprung 6puck. the comp says 550hp holding and the SBR say was tested on a 600 awhp so any feedback?

also my cars FWD built 6 bolt SBR stage V head TRE tranny 60-1 turbo and all sporting mods hopefully putting down 400 plus hp, the pics are old the motor blew over thanksgiving so its getting built now should be out in June. thanks for any help

The competition clutch is the sbr clutch.Same thing. I have the hd 4000. I don't have it in yet. I have talked to quite a few people that said they liked it and it worked good.Have seen one or two posts with problems with it. I have seen a few more posts with problems with the SBR 3500. And of course there were lots of posts of act springs falling out too.
So who knows what to get. I wanted a bit lighter pedal pressure so went to the hd4000.SBR guy did run it and said it held up pretty good. My car is street 99% so should be fine as won't be running 30psi very often at all.I do plan on running 20 to 24psi on water /alco injection and pump with my big huge intercooler. If the hd 4000 can't handle it then guess maybe try 2900 /street disc combWTF!!r something else entirely mabye some kind of twin disc setup.I won't put up with excessive pedal pressure or much chatter on my street car.

Can give a full review on my hd4000 in a month or maybe sooner.

The slowboy 4000 disk is what I'm putting in my car right now, and yes competition makes it for slowboy. The 2600/4000 disk combo should easily hold the power your making. As far as streetability goes a sprung six puck isn't too bad once you get used to it. I took me a few weeks to learn how to drive it smoothly, but put my wife in the car and the ride is pretty herky-jerky. I should have my car back on the street to break it in by this friday, so I'll let you know what I think asap so I can help you make your choice. Too bad I wouln't be able to tell you about longevity till next year, but I kinda figure I'll be replacing disks every year anyway. If I forget to post about it then pm me to remind me.

Competition makes a great clutch. I run their Stage 2 in my car and we have installed and sold many of them as well. Not only DSM either, EVO, WRX etc... and they have done us very well. They have a pretty wide spread line up and very competitive pricing too. Definitely recommend them.

Well the SBR 4000 clutch uses a 3500lb pressure plate (I am pritty sure of it). I have the sbr 4000 6puck in my car and it HOLDS the power just fine. As far as the pedal pressure, you will get a strong left foot after a while. I drive my car for the most part daily in the summer and i get tired of driving it sometimes. I had the SBR 3500 before the 4000 and it lasted about 8000 miles and burned up my flywheel really bad. Not sure how long the 4000 will last, I am going on 3000 miles with the 4000 and so far i would give it a 4 out of 5 star rating just because i now have a bigger left leg.

Hmm..I was quite sure read it used a 2500 pressure plate and most guys said had lower pressure than the 2600 act. I have a lot more power than your car so hoping it will hold ok but not going to be tracking the car either.
I wonder if you have a leaking slave or a miset clutch pedal.A leaking slave and have one in my 91 fwd turbo right now can easily make the pedal pressure go up and might even cause clutch damage.Ditto on setting the clutch pedal heights and stuff.
I would check your slave for leaking.
You are the first guy that I have talked to complain about high pedal pressure on the hd 4000. Most say its pretty light.
I guess find out for myself in a week or two that is about time my new setup in sig is done.Air in lines can also cause some problems with clutches. As can wrong step heights or worn pivot balls.
I also noticed when installed my new act flywheel it was coated in oil from factory. This would cause big problems likely if wasnt' cleaned off on install.I use brake cleaner to clean flywheel and pressure plate, and used red loctite as extra insurance on pressure plate bolts and flywheel bolts.Torquing to spec..100 ft on flywheel and 15 on pressure plate.
I would bet a lot of clutch problems are due to not having a clean surface on flywheel and pressure plate, using old flywheel, defective slaves, etc.
Lots of guys also ride the clutch or slip it excessively. Both not good things.

I think will be going to 2900 act with street disc if dont' like the hd 4000.I do drive in some heavier traffic occasionally.Don't like really high pedal pressures.

Also bet a lot of failures are not torquing the flywheel and pressure plate bolts with torque wrench.I dont know very many backyard guys that bother with a torque wrench but they are pretty important on critical parts like this. How do you find the 4000 for chatter after break in?

Your right, the slowboy 4000 clutch has a 2500lb pp, which is supposed to be a lot easier then the act 2600. btw, both the 2600 and the 2900 are supposed to feel the same, so the 2900 with the street disk isn't that bad. A friend of mine has it in his dynoed 450whp car. The only problem with that combo from what he says is that it dosen't last as long as a sprung 6 puck should.
