"Tranny breaker"...opinions...

My (nothing much) mods... Ported 2g o2, ported 2g exhaust mani, walbro 255 fp, 2.5" downpipe, high flow cat, and muffler, running 18lbs boost still rich, a/f guage, exhaust temp, boost guage...

The ACT 2600 has been called a tranny breaker...will it cause harm if you let the clutch out slowly and not drop it out? Clutch just went out and I am looking at a ACT 2100 and the 2600...I wanna put more power eventually but not for a while most likely...I obviously dont want to destroy my transmission but if I go with a 2100 and i drive my car hard just about all the time...will it wear out rather quickly or will the 2600 do the same when I am letting the clutch out slowly rather than dropping it out...

Basically my question if i slip the 2600 out will it do transmission damage and will it last longer than the 2100....

thank you

If you promise not to launch that thing too often, then the 2100 would be fine. Plus, it'll have an easier pedal feel to it, compared to the heavier pedal pressure on the 2600.

But if you plan on any future mods, including bigger turbo and such, then I would get the 2600 now and save the hassle of dropping the tranny twice (or more). You can consider it a "tranny breaker" if you race it hard. Since it can hold just about everything you can throw at it, guess where the rest of the strain goes to?....tranny of course. *Assuming you're launching it hard enough and don't spin the tires*

from my limited knowledge when you let it slip you are generally taking some force off the tranny, but wearing your clutch out that much faster.

then again if you drop it into gear, your saving your clutch but beating the tranny.

"But if you plan on any future mods, including bigger turbo and such, then I would get the 2600 now and save the hassle of dropping the tranny twice (or more). "

that doesnt make much sense to me cus from my understanding a 2100 would be less likely to drop a tranny, but you can kill your clutch easier than a 2600, especially if launching a lot.

! No, I meant physically dropping the tranny to change the clutch. Meaning, the 2100 will be useless when you go to a bigger turbo and trying for 1.6 60ft times. So get the 2600 now and save the hassle of swapping clutches out later.

As long as you do not do anything stupid you will not brake things with ACT 2600. But that is kind of like asking people not to speed .

You already have 4 bolt rear end (3 bolt axles are the first to go), so the next possible problem could be with the center diff. Fix that (4 spider gear center diff at around $500) and you will not have to worry about much.
