need a quick diagnosis.

2 weeks ago i was crusing to bellevue from lincoln and when i got to an exit the car would not shift at all. when i did try, it would grind or try and roll forward as if my clutch was not fully depressed. i later find out that a bolt on the bottom end had backed its self out, and screwing it back in fixed the problem.

lately it will try and start in gear and lurch forward, and stopping doing it off and on. it makes a very loud banging noise when it does this.

last night it did it once, and the rest of the night it didnt, i drove back home (1 hour) and it did the same thing when i got home, making this horrible noise and not shifting at all, when its in gear it makes the sounds too, and when i let out on the clutch its as if i never even pushed it.

tob or bolts backed out on pp? either way i have to crack it open down here and pray to god it works....

first, are your fluid levels good and is the clutch adjustment correct? Before you pull the tranny, look at the slave cylinder where the rod connects to the shift fork, i don't have a picture handy, but if you push your clutch in and it looks as if the shift fork is coming close or hitting the side of the hole it comes out of then you will need to replace the shiftfork/pivot ball. Some people just shim the ball out, but I prefer to replace them. If all is good then it sounds like you are on the right track. Pull that sucker out and check what you mention above.

Good luck!
