ok so who is high hp (350+) and is still using the stock tranny, as in nothing but a clutch flywheel done? I am wanting to know how long my tranny will hold. im looking for around 400 whp when i tune it. It will mostly be a weekend car/ a few visits to the track. when i go to the track i would use slicks. and NOT launch hard, wait till 2nd to give it full throttle.

I want to know if i need to save up for a tranny or if it will be fine for the summer? thanks for the input. also how long do the kaaz lsd's last until the need to be rebuilt

seriously,if you can afford a 400+ hp car, u can afford a tranny when it break, gotta pay to play.

slicks and stock open diff is a good recipe for snapping axles, if you arent launching, you dont need slicks, that will just hurt your trap.
 
how would being able to use 2nd gear going to hurt my traps, im not going to be able to use 1st gear either way. so that was my thoughts. and when i say not launching i mean i will slip the clutch until i get traction then i will go wide open. im not going to use studder box and leave the line with 12 psi. and just dump the clutch. because that = broken axles, learned that the hard way on my civic (n20 kills)

i know i will have to rebuild it, i was just wanting to know if it will last say 5 months with only 2-3 visits to the track and going out on the street and roll racing most firday nights with street tires.

I was wanting to know how many people are running that much power on a stock tranny.

Im truely looking for a used one. so if i ever see one then i will buy it

1/4 mile and hp are not up todate, that time was with a 16g that and a crack manifold causing boost not to build until around 4200, and the hp was what dsmlink said i had a while ago. i havent updated it yet since im just getting it where i want it.

and my slicks are hoosier 26" by 10 i belive. and the street tires are fuzion zri 225-40-18

If your NOT going to launch hard -- then ya dont really need slicks :)

Wheel hop will kill your trans long before Horse power.
 
2G FWD trannies are probably the weakest of the DSM bunch, I would say try to find a spare one in a boneyard and build it as Mitsu doesn't make new ones, then you'll be all set to run.
 
am i just stupid, but i would rather not launch hard and be able to use all of 2nd and part of thrid rather than still not being able to launch hard since the tires will spin. and spin all the way through 2nd and spin into 3rd? i guess im just stupid.

I was runnin around 320 on my rebuilt tranny with a act 2100 and quaife lsd it wasnt to long ago i broke a tooth on 2nd and shattered the input shaft! Our stock trannys are just not capable of handling that much power.My tranny now is in the process of being built by SHEP you can not beat his prices! btw... i went through 3 trannys before i woke up!!! dont make the same mistake i did get it done right the first it will save you alot of money in the long run!!!!
 
I sheered 3 teeth off second gear with only 340whp and many 8,000 rpm runs. You will have to eventually rebuilt the trans if you want to reach to 400hp. I got my trans rebuilt by a local dsm trans god LOL. He used shep parts so i guess i could say i have a shep rebuilt trans.
