Ding dong my clutch is dead..

So I finally tapped out my clutch last night, gotta love that nice burning smell. So, if I'm going to pull off the tranny, I might as well take the opertunity to do everything while I'm in there. As far as clutches I've used, I've only had experience with ACT, but I'm not sure if that's my best option.

Seeing as how the car has crankwalked 3 times in the past with the previous owner on a stock clutch, this is a concern of mine with an aftermarket clutch. The current bottom end has handled fine for the past 30,000 miles, and I disabled my clutch starter switch so I start without the clutch in. So far, so good, but who knows.

As of this moment, I'm looking at an ACT 2100/Flywheel combo, and a B&M LSD Insert. If you feel inclined to look at my mod list, I won't be doing much more than this on a FWD, so I *think* a 2100 will be enough. I'm also leaning towards an ACT flywheel because I won't need to resurface it and I hear it's a better daily driver than the Fidanza. Any comments on this from FWD specific owners?

And please don't get off track flaming the LSD insert. If you personally have experience with the B&M (not Phantom Grip, not Quaif, not anything else) I would love it if you would chime in, but every other post gets off track so much I almost didn't include it in the post.

As usual, thanks in advance.

I have somewhat similar mods running the ACT2100, ACT flywheel, but I have the SBR tranny inserts. One other thing I have that I feel makes a lot of difference is the Energy Suspension motor mount inserts.

I love the setup. Wheel hop is vertually non-existant. It is a dream in a straight line, coming out of corners is wonderful also. Driving in traffic is not all that different from stock. The only problem I have noticed is that I have some wheel spin (16G over T25) in 1st and 2nd, but nothing that a little change in driving style can't cope with.

IMO you will probably like the setup. Although I would suggest at least the motor mount inserts also, that is what I feel reduced the wheel hop the most.

Another clutch to consider would be the centerforce dual friction. They have stock like pedal pressure and hold more torque the the act 2100, plus they put slightly less pressure on the thrust bearing. I'm still on the stock clutch & don't know how long it will last with the additional power Im putting through so this spring before the car gets put back on the road I will be adding the centerforce clutch, xact streetlight flywheel & a quaife lsd.

Did u happen to look into the spec clutch. I am running the act fly with the stage 3 lightend clutch and the SBr lsd insert and it is pretty nice. I also run BFgoorrich KD's on the front to eliminate wheel spin. Haven't noticed much wheel hop yet but i assunme if i where to go to the track where there is some rubber it might with the stock motor mounts. As for the clutch pedal feel it is just like stock yet it is i believe equal to the act 2600. I know they have done some research SPEC themselves on the crankwalk issue and designed there cltuch around that. They also supply you with a TB that doesn't melt in 2000 miles. haha. One thing i noticed is a slight chatter in the wheels when you slowly move like in a parking lot with the lsd insert. MY 2 cents :D :D :D

Well, to answer my question, both ExtremePSI and Slow Boy have their machined by a machine shop. Since I ordered from Extreme, I got the 2100 clutch combo and their LSD. I would love it if anyone with the Extreme LSD insert would chime in about it. Thanks.

I know slowboy makes there own. Actually it would be pretty easy to make if you knew the spring tensions of the springs that push the piece out onto the center dif. The only thing i don't like about the piece is when you know one wheel is spinning you know that the LSD is slipping against the two big bearings in the dif this worries me.

What about the slow boy clutches. I heard they hold more the an act 2100 and have less pedale pressure.
