Pulled my transmission and i saw something odd

I pulled my transmission out to have it rebuilt, first gear took a crap on me, and I noticed a small crack, about half an inch long the the bell housing right up top between the top two tranny bolts holding it on to the block...Does this mean i am screwed?

Could be as simple as casting flash. The tranny case and bellhousing looks like it is cracked all to hell, but it is actually marks from the casting process.

A picture would be nice.

Yeah i can get a pic, and it is for sure a crack. i cant see light through it but like i said it is about half an inch long where the tranny and then motor meet

If it is bad enough or I was unsure I would just get another bellhousing off a junker and call it a day. Without seeing the crack, it is hard to say. Also while you are there check the tranny mount. A busted one will allow the tranny to flop around to much and can damage axels and other things.
