I just got a Fidanza short shifter kit for my '92 Talon and I now realize that short shifters don't have a stopper like the factory ones do. What have you other guys with short shifters done about this. I'm not going to install it without one. What is the factory stopper made of and what should I use on my new shifter. I also have one more question. If I put a bigger stopper on the shifter, it will also shorten the throw, right? I read about a mod where two bolts were used on either side of the factory stopper to shorten the throw, but what about a larger diameter stopper on my new one?

Thanks for the help Dream On, but that's where I saw the thing with the bolts to shorten the throw. It was in a past thread posted. If anyone else can help, I would appeciate the input. Just an idea, but Fidanza is 10 miles away from my house, should I give them a call and see if they have something to use as a stop?

I'd say if its made by them then you should call them and see what they say. After reading over some of the threads on here about your situation, it seems that everybody with your short shifter had to do the bolt mod for a stopper. Or they just got pissed and took it off. The vfaq has instructions on how to make the bolt mod to the shifter.

The bolt mod only works if you have a stopper on the shifter. It shortens the distance the stopper can travel back and forth, making a shorter throw. I need to know how to make a stopper on my short shifter before I even start thinking about shortening the distance it travels. If anyone has put a stopper on their shifter, I'd like to know what you used and how you put it on.
