Has this happened to anyone else?

Ok i left my buddies house to run home and grab some parts i get a few streets over and all the sudden the shift goes really soft and loose and now i cant shift the car its stuck in like 2-3 gear so i take the center consol apart and notice all the welds on the shifter to the plate are broken! never had that happen in all my 5 of my dsm years i managed to get the car home at least anyone got one laying around they want to sell cheap?....

Yes I have heard of this before, but only on 90/91 E/L/T cars. I guess the welder was still learning cause the welds looked like crap.
