Converting to FWD from AWD?

It is not going to be a permanent thing, i just need to remove the driveshaft, rear differential, and rear axles temporarily because my rear diff is locking and may need a rebuild. Is it possible to do this with no ill effects. I cant be without my car for too long and still need to drive it. Is this possible at all? How hard is it to rebuild anyways? Please and thanks!

Sure is bud, what you need is a Viscous Coupling Eliminator. TRE sells them for $165 which is about is as cheap as I have ever seen one.

Thanks, I dont know if I can afford that much extra for the non down time. Maybe I will just take it to a trans shop. Anyone know of a good trustworthy trans shop in Southern CA close to Lake Forest. Not Aamco. Please and thanks.
