I've got a question. You know how the rear tranny mount with the skinny a$$ bolt that goes through dowel pin......well i forgot to put the pin in when i put my tranny in and that bolt stripped the threads in my tranny. So do you think i could just enlarge the hole on the ear of the block, then drill and tap that mount in the tranny to accept a larger bolt to make up for the missing dowel pin? Any of you think that would hold up?
and seeing more than my share of cracked transmission bellhousings, I'd personally not risk not having that dowel in there to ensure corrrect alignment of the tranny to the engine. Once in alignment, re-tapping the hole or drill/tap for a larger bolt and will be fine and you'll have 100% peace of mind
