Swapped a 92 tranny and t-case into a 90 AWD, 92 awd shifter base and cables, switched mounting brackets, lever on tranny, put the car on the floor, start, bogs, runs like Sh*t...smokes....black smoke...drained some of the oil, just in case, same deal, I adhjusted the cable as best I could, I have 2,3,4,5,R...NO first!...I have only moved the car a couple of feet, because once you rev it, it stalls...WTF??? :talon:

tighten all your ic pipes, then take it out in 3rd and floor it, youll find your leak fast :) make sure you have all your sockets and wrenches and everything for your ic piping. id your bov recirculating or not? not recirculating will make it do that

Your car running like crap shouldn't have anything to do with the tranny. Sounds like you have some other serious engine issues. But if you can't get the tranny into first then, thats a problem in it self. I see you have swapped everything over. I would be sure you have everything properly connected. Or see if you can manually put it in first using the levers on the trans. I know when I first got mine back it didn't want to go into a few gears. I got it into 2nd, moved a bit and it went into all the gears. I figured it just needed some oil to get everything moving. But as for the car running like crap and smoking black, you have some other issues going on.

Did you switch the cable bracket and lever on the tranny or are you using the parts that came on the 92 tranny?

BOV - HKS SSQV - vented

swapped levers on tranny. I checked the connections, everything seems fine. I tightened the sh*t out of the ic pipes and same thing...I am going to pull the entire intake side down again, and put it back together. I think I might even pull the downpipe, maybe I am leaking there ( but it wouldnt smoke out muffler, if it was leaking there???). I put octane booster, fuel injector cleaner, nothing. Engine ran fine prior to swap. I am wonder if something got down in the intake /turbo during the swap. I am going to clean up the ground points. I have no clue what could cause this.

You need to use the lever and cable bracket that came on the 92 tranny. If you use the stock 90 shifter, cables, bracket, that would be the only time you would need to swap the lever on the tranny.

right now i am willling to try anything, tommoorrow I will try switching the lever and cable bracket back to the 92..and see what happens.

Car ran fine prior to tranny swap, no idle surge nothing, blew off was fine, never stalled once, so I never bothered to adjust for harder or softer blow off, becuase it hit it right the first time.

ECU resets itself after about 15 minutes of the negative battery terminal being disconnected.

But you want the 92 bracket/levers on the tranny. Right now you're running the equivalent of a 92 with a tranny out of a 90 on there.

Basically, all 91+ parts, or all 90 parts.
