The transfer case takes 1.1 pints. The manual illistrates that 1.1 pints will be level with the bottom part of the fill plug. I completely drained any oil that i could. I even raised the front of the vehichle so the oil would drain towards the back which is where the drain plug is on the transfer case.

1.1 pints is just a little bit less than the size of a 20oz pop. So i put my Redline oil in the pop bottle and put it in the transfer case. However, you simply cannot add 1.1 pints. It wants to gush out of the oil plug.

So is there a certain amount of oil that won't come out of the transfer case unless you take it out of the car, drain it end on end, take it apart, etc..?? I put the whole 1.1 pints in and shoved the plug in quick. A little bit more can't hurt, can it.

If anyone can answer my 2 questions, I would appreciate so i can get that dam thing off the jackstands tonight.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks guys for the really fast help. I even appreciate it more because i can get it off the jackstands. I think there is probably a certain amount of oil inside the yoke that probably won't drain unless you take the drive shaft off.

Driving it around for a day and rechecking it is a good idea.

How i filled it tonight was to put the back of the car on car ramps, then the front of the car on jack stands and had the car nearly as level as if it were sitting on the ground then filled it up using a long hose and funnel.

I just didn't want to be paranoid so that's why i asked you guys. If anything there might be 6-7 oz. too much but i'll see how it is after i drive it around and let it settle.

Thanks again.

After a day of driving, take a really long 17mm wrench and take off the T case fill plug with the car not jacked up. If and fluid comes out of the fill plug hole, just let it come out till no more comes out then put the plug back on. :thumb:

Thanks, i'll do that. I probably have about 2 feet of extensions that i can put all together.
