well guys, once again i am in some real deep trouble and need some help.....sat night while cruising i got deep in the gas and notice that my clutch got really really hard.....i did it again and it happend again.....i then thought it could be cuz of a hot clutch.....so i tried it this morning and once again...i go deep in throttle and my clutch gets really hard to push on to change gears....someone please help....

Symptoms:

i go deep in throttle and clutch becomes really hard to push on....kinda feels like something is pushing against me when it comes time to shift.....

only happens in heavy throttle....doesn't happen in cruise

p.s i have never changed the clutch so it is a possibility that its still stock...

Well, It would be good to know what you are driving. For all I know it could be a Mac truck.

I know that 1g cars had problems like you are discribing so if its a 1g then do a search on that. If its a 2g then I have no clue as I have never heard of such a problem for them.

sorry bout that....ok the profile is done....

anybody has any ideas/advice on my situation??

Your throttle doesnt have anything to do with the clutch. What it sounds like to me is the 2G clutch master cyl pump up. If you have the regular amount of freeplay, then after driving, the pedal gets stiffer, and the freeplay goes away, this is what it is. You have to adjust the clutch pedal stop at the top to allow more freeplay, then re-adjust your clutch.

Read this: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/clutchandflywheeltech.htm

Look almost all the way down the page. It's called "2G pedal pump up"

ok, thanks for the link, i will go ahead and try that once i get a chance.....i hope that a simple adjustment will cure the problem....its just weird cuz it only happens in deep throttle...i will post back as soon as i do it.....any more suggestions?

well guys, i just came back from working on the car.......so i go ahead and bleed the system.....fluid came with no problem no signs of air.....but bled it about 4-5 times just to be sure.....i also tried adjusting the clutch pedal....HERE'S WHERE THINGS GET WEIRD..... i go out after doing all that (keep in mind this is at 23 or so lbs of boost) and my pedal still got hard during heavy boost/heavy throttle.....now heres the mind blowing thing, i turn the boost down to 15lbs and the clutch gets so much softer.... the clutch feels like is suppose to.....i turned it to 18lbs, and it got harder....not as hard as when on 23lbs, but a lil stiffer......i'm stumped...

I'm currently having the same problem you have, except for the throttle and boost pressure thing, mine is only doing what GSX4LIFE just explained. It will actually start getting stiffer and stiffer and the engaging of the clutch starts to move higher and higher off the floor until it's so close to the top it starts to really worry me. I haven't tried what RRE's page says, but I will as soon as I can. it's really weird.
Does you clutch engaging point do the same thing as mine (move higher as you drive)?
By the way I just changed to a Slowboy 3500 clutch, but that was about 2 months ago, so it may have nothing to do with it.

Have you ever measured for crankwalk. I'm not into 2g's and i dont know much about crankwalk but just maybe when there is a large amount of stress on the crank it has an effect on the flywheel/clutch/fork/pedal. If I were you and u havent measured for crankwalk, why not now?

actually no, thats the weird thing, while i'm cruising the clutch feels nice, it feels the way its suppose to feel no matter how long i drive the car for, but once i go deep in the throttle thats when it get hard......i haven't measured for crankwalk cuz i haven't had the time yet....i'm really hoping thats not the case.....i'm kinda hoping thats its my pressure plate so i'll be changing that within the next month or so to the SBR 3500. but if the case is that i do have crankwalk....its just an excuse to finally get moving on the 6 bolt i want to build (but it wont be for a while)

If it was your pressure plate it would do it all the time. Have you checked your tranny to engine bolts?? They're notorious for coming out and allowing the engine/tranny to separate and bind up your clutch. Check that you have all the bolts tightened and have a friend press your clutch while you're watching (engine off, parked, of course!)and see if there's any separation.

I'd also suspect the T/O bearing pilot shaft, the aluminum shaft the throwout bearing slides on. Sometimes they get galled up and prevent the T/O bearing from moving smoothly. Unfortunately the only way to check it is to drop the trans.

i haven't measured crankwalk yet (which i really hope is not the case)...but i called shep from shepard racing today and asked him for his thought....he told me to check the cylinder over by the tranny (where you bleed the system) by pushing the rod back into the cylinder by hand, and if the rod goes in smoothly then the cylinders are fine....he went on to explain to me about how the cylinders might have to much pressure on heavy load and heat up the fluid (or something to that affect), just wondering if anyone else has tried this method??

damn, its been a while....sorry for delay....i've had the car running for a lil while now and forgot to mention the outcome.....i ended up checkin the whole hydraulic system numoreous times couldn't figure it out....i ended up getting the SBR3500 clutch w/ pressure plate, disk...and the o.e.m TOB, with the plastice sleeve.....had some problems geting the tranny back in, what a PITA that was....after some time got the tranny back up and bolted in......had a little problem with the not going to gear and after a night of just sittin, it went in/out of every gear smoothly without problems (i figure it was just for the fluid sink in) got the car on the road and its been running smooth and the problem of the pedal getting hard in deep throttle and/or heavy boost, went away and is gripping nice....so thanks for all the help and opinions and for thos who search this later on for the same problem, i'm pretty sure this is the case.....
