N/A Tranny in a TSi?

I thyink i read in here that you can put a tranny from a N/A 1G into a turbo 1G and it will work. but not only will it work, the gears are quicker, so essentially its better for drag racing, is this correct, or bull. The main reason i ask is my car is currently auto, and either wanna do the swap, or just build the auto, so im just l0ooking for options and opinons, any and all are appreciated, Thanks

If your car is AWD, it should work because I know the top backing plate between the tranny and engine is the same on the N/A and AWD, so the starter engagement should be the same. But the pattern for the FWD is different as the flywheel is bigger than the AWD and N/A.

are you fwd or awd??

if you're fwd simply grab the new backing plate from an awd or nt as mentioned above.

then you'll need to grind off the locating pin on the end of the crank.

you'll need a good condition nt flywheel and an performance nt clutch.

i believe that's it though.

oh and if you're wondering how i know this, i have one. and as to whether or not its helpful just consider my times. 14.5 @ 103.7 on stock boost with a turbo back 2.5" and a K&N, blown shocks, and 100+lbs of subs in the back. 1st through 4th are roughly the same as an awd, whereas 5th is the same as the turbo fwd so you get the best of acceleration and mileage. the only problem is that noone's really sure just how strong the nt tranny is compared to the turbo fwd.
