I just got my trans back from tre. I need to install it back in but I am having problems. I have read the Vfaq and clutch install pages but my problem is I cant get the trans up in position to slide it in. It either needs to be rotated or the transfer case shaft it hitting on the bottum. Rite now it is almost in but I cant get the part where the front axels go in to get where it needs to be. It is hitting on the frame piece right before where it needs to go. It is my first timing installing and my friend has a fwd so its different. What are your guys tips and tricks for getting the trans up so you can slide it in. Thanks. Lets make this good so all the first timers can have somethin to look at.
and i need a clutch and flywheel before install but anywho. did you remove the crossmember that sits underneath the tranny. try putting the passenger side cv shaft in and then put the tranny in and bolt it up. put the x-case on the impeller shaft and then swing the x-case over to the tranny and bolt it on. thats pretty much how i took mine off. i am worried also about putting mine back on being that it is also my first time doing this. i give it about 2-3 hours to do. my tranny is still on a pallet so i will raise my car more and lower it over the tranny so i dont need to lift it
