Worth It?

Ok i just got my wonderful 1997 eclipse gs-t back. The old t25 seized on me and now i have an evo III 16g on it. Problem is now the clutch slips like a fat lady on ice. i could get the car up to like 65-70 and cruise with it but it seems after like 30min of driving it, when it warms up, it doesnt really grab and i just sit there revvin it and i get that nice smell of burnt clutch. Now does anyone think i could drive this thing about 35 miles or so? I really dont feel like having it towed for 100bucks. but is it worth the risk and could somethin else go wrong? any info would help...i just ordered a new clutch as well...

Well, if you try driving it and it doesn't make it 35 miles, you can then call a tow truck anyway. So, I'd drive it but have a cell phone with me.

Or if you have any mechanical skills at all, just replace the clutch yourself. It's not that hard, and you'll learn along the way. Certainly easier than changing a timing belt.

Easier than changing a timing belt? timing belt is pretty easy, a clutch even easier? Doesn't sound right.

Heh, ok.

I'd say it's harder than a tbelt in that it's more physical, while a tbelt requires much more paying attention to the timing marks and tension(!) and and messing with the water pump bolts and crap. Either way, I'd risk the 35 mile drive. Just take backroads and bring a cell phone.
