Anyone have problems where your exhaust is hitting your driveshaft? My car came with a apexi N1 turbo back exhaust and it just happens that the exact place where there is a coupling in the exhaust pipe right next to it there is a coupling in the drive shaft...and they hit while i'm driving. This caused my transfer case and clutch to go out. Anyone have anything similar?

yeah, the apex'i design (n1 or Dunk) puts that to dang close... I had little to no issues on the stock DP
but after a 3inch rre DP and 3"cat I have that issue, or if it drops then the rubber hanger actaully rubs the shaft...

I took off the little shield hoping to get more clearance, but I dont think it helped.

I am now considering another hanger in compression to hold it more to the drivers side and space it just a little away from that and also grinding the flanges down in that area for more clearance.

The other thing I am considering is getting rid of that flange... or having a muffler shop chop it and move it forward 1/2" like they should have done originally when it was first designed.

yeah it is really stupid that it wasnt designed to be like just an inch forward or backward, cuz that would solve it. I thought about grinding it down too but I don't really want to resort to that. Not like an exhaust "leak" would cause bigger problems...

is yours up above the carrier bearing bracket, or below?

IT should be above it, I am thinking that a new "donut" might pull it back over to the drivers side also... worst case we can add another SMALL hanger to the mount and pipe pushing (instead of pulling) the thing over to the driver's side.

I'm not sure. I'll have to take another look. Also, I think I'll take a couple pics tomorrow and post them.

lucius: I fixed mine today, pretty much.

The rear section was hanging down lower than it used to near the rear diff, pushed it back up, and i had a loose bolt on the topside of that one near the carrier. Once it tightened it down it started moving ever so slightly away...

Still closer that I would like, even without the little shield in place... but it works until i decide to shave that flange adn bracket down a bit.

i'd have taken pictures but my face barely fits underthere, much less a camera too (no lift just ramps on the left side is how i get under there)

mine did that and what it was hitting on was the last flange before the rice pipe, i had a muffler shop push it to the side about 2 inch maybe less it doesn't hit at all anymore

Mine is exactly the same. I used 3 pipe clamps attached to a random part on the body to hold it to the left until I can get into a muffler shop, which seems to actually be working quite well. But man, I thought my car was creaky and rattley before but it was nothing compared to having the vibration from the exhaust go directly into the body...

Does anyone know if automatic tranny's have the same problem? Because I'm planning on getting the same turboback exhaust for my auto.
