here is a list of the problems in no particular order.
1) Now in 1st gear i cannot go any higher than 4k rpms without my car whining. Trying to get into second gear over 4k results in a 1-2 second grind and sometimes the shift lever gets spit out of second. Cannot go into any gear quick shifting, or if im in high rpms i can get into any gear without brute force.
2) only from a rolling stop can i get into 1st without hurting my hand.
3) There is about an inch or more of free play up and down when in any gear 2-R, excluding first.
4)In cold weather i have the TOB chatter when clutch pedal is not pushed down, then it goes away once car warms up.
Imagine having power steering in your dsm then driving a metro with no ps at all. That is how greatly of a difference my shifter feels. There is definitely a big problem. It used to be easy to shift into gears. I have always had a grind and a "clunk" into 2nd gear but that was only at very high rpms around 5500 rpms or so. Driving has gotten very bad. I have read a good amount of threads but none give a good answer.
When i take it in should i be focused more over on the transmission(synchros/shift fork) or the clutch(input shaft, TOB) both would seem to be the cause of the problem, but im not at all good at diagnosing.
Things I have done to help but to no solution:
1)Replaced All shifter bushings( cable and plate)
2)Synchromesh
3)short shifter
can anyone help me out?
