i was told that these types of clutches are very rough, like your car shakes and stuff when you arent accelerating or moving fast at least. i never hear this before so im wondering who has one that could hopefully shoot this story down!

i have a ACT 6 puck in my car and its dosnt shake, and in my 90 i had a 4 puck, the only con is that theres no play in the pedal with 6 puck and theres a little play with the 4 puck.

why do you want a little play in the pedal

I had a Clutchmasters 4 puck clutch. Pedal pressure is just like stock. My issue with that clutch is that it is impossible to slip it to get a good launch or even to creep away from a light. The car ends up shuddering a lot. You may learn to drive around that issue in traffic but I never found a solution for the drag racing issue so I got an ACT 2600. Most of the DSM pros use a 2900 or 3200 PP with a stock clutch disk. I don’t understand why anyone would want a puck clutch.

I have a 5 puck on my FWD and I can slip it on a launch. I have had it for about a year and a half. No problems yet.

I have a 6 puck and love it. can drive it on the street daily, slip it ever so slightly, and launch the livin daylights out of it! I'll stick with pucks. and probably drop to a 3 or 4 next time. You cannot argue with success.
Driver skill is key!

I say PUCK it!

The clutches are designed to hold a lot of power, there is going to be some tradeoff. They're harder to launch and smoothly shift sometimes. I've driven a car equipped with an ACT street clutch and another with a 6 puck, and the 6 puck was definitely harder to drive smoothly. Same situation when I drove a car equipped with a Vitek Stage I as opposed to a Vitek Stage IV with 4 pucks.

And a pucked clutch can be harder on your tranny. I drive a Maxima, and with Maximas at least, there have been quite a few cases of 6 puck ACT's leading to messed up trannys. We have notoriously weak transmissions and they just weren't up to the task of the increased driveline shock caused by a 4 or 6 puck clutch.

What clutch are you using?

I have the 5 puck from www.capclutch.com I think I'm going to try a 4 puck next. The 5 puck held up to a 16G at 20 psi for over a year on my FWD. I don't know how long it will last with my T3T4
