Ok, my car is finaly back togeather and this time, its sporting a new clutch kit. I opted to buy the SBR 3500 clutch kit because my ACT's spring desided to break one day. Well... i guess well get to the review...:

My first impression of the kit when i got it in the mail was ehhh.. The first thing i saw was the pressure plate. The pressure plate itself looks pretty good. The only thing that pissed me off about the pressure plate was that it was painted like ass. Its like they spraypainted it red, without masking anything off. Half of the fingers were red... OH WELL.. not like it effects performance..but still for 400 bucks, thats not a cool thing to see for a "first impression." ... Now on to the clutch disk.... I was very very impressed with the clutch disk. This disk just looks tough. The center hub on the disk is held togeather with 6 rivits.. Go count your ACT's rivits... Yeah there are only 3 on the ACT.... so thats it pretty much for the looks...

Now... how it performs..... Ok... ill be honest, my grandmother could drive this car now. The clutch pedal is non existant compared to the ACT i had. Every time i pushed the pedal, i thought something was broken because im so used to a heavy pedal. Honestly.. i think i like the heavier pedal more just for the fact that i know i have a strong PP. But i will get used to it... its just so weird that the pedal is so light. I have never drove a 2100, so i can not compare it to that. But ill say ATLEAST HALF the pedal pressure of the 2600. I have not launced the car yet...or drove it really hard. I have only put 33 miles on it today. Even though SBR says "no break in," ... im gonna break it in. Im not taking a chance.. You should break any clutch in.

So all in all.. I like this clutch kit. So far so good. We will see what happens when i get more miles on it, and start beating on it. If ya got any questions, feel free to ask.

P.S. My clutch kit did not come with the Mitsu throwout bearing. It came with the competition clutch throw out bearing. The comp clutch TOB has a metal sleve and a completly sealed bearing. I didnt have time to go get a Mitsu TOB, so i said screw it.. I am using the Comp clutch one. Honestly.. This TOB looks alot nicer then the stocker, and so far is alot quieter then the other stock ones i have had.

Mine (HD 4000) was paint very good (maybe for the 100$ extra :p ...) look awsome, me too didn't come with the OEM t/o bearing, but I keep the one I had (I changed it 3 month ago when I put the 2100), because I have a break-in 500 miles, I'm still not over yet but I can say the pedal pressure is like stock (or 2100) but when you clucht first speed you notice a huge clamping power, other speed are very smoth, but first you very feel the clamp, so I need to be carefull, because easy to do a little to must fast with not enough gas and it stall...

good to know, i think i'll get the SBR clutch when my 2100 explodes on me

i too have the sbr 3500 kit and still have not driven it much, sittin for the winter. but my first impression is about the same as the previous posts. for the 100 or less miles i have put on it since nov. my kit did come with the oe t.o.b. the only thing that i'm havin a problem with is i order a slave clylinder rod from taboospeedshop.com like 2 months ago and no product, email replys ect. anyone else havin problems with them? dsm's for life :dsm:

Lately, taboo hasn't been doing very well at sending his products out, lots of people are pissed at him for doing so.

Anyway, has anybody ever had this clutch slip on them at all? How much torque are you all creating and how difficult is it to move to the SBR clutch kit from the 2600?

Any update on this? Launched on it yet? What mods do you have? Holding ok?

For me, (HD 4000) still love it, but no launch because of the snow (Montréal) but Drifting is available and cool (when desired and controled):)

i have yet to launch it as well. I have no need to launch it at the moment... Not like im racing in the winter. But otherwise, so far so good!

I just got Slowboy's 3500 clutch and LSD with ACT streetlite flywheel. Putting it in tonight so I can drive out of this snow infested state (MI) to the sandy beaches of Daytona Beach Florida on Thursday. Good break-in trip, wouldn't you say?

From everything I've heard about Slowboy's clutch, I'm really looking forward to driving through the Appalachians.

Let us know how they launch, im interested in one of these.

has ANYONE launched one of these things yet??? hate to take the umph outta this thread but it's just a useless thread right now cause no one really knows how well it works. all we know is it has a lighter pedal pressure, the paint quality on the pp, and that's about it. i'm interested in these clutches as well but don't wanna be a guinea pig as far as clutches go.

i've had 2 ACt street disc pop springs on me so not really wanting another ACT disc although i like the pp. ordered a clutch kit from eClutchmasters thinkin they were "Clutchmasters." they sent me a stage 1 disc instead of a stage 2 like i had ordered and i had to use it (have to get to and from work ya know?). they didn't reply to my e-mails about giving me another. oh well, screw them. they ripped me off.

so looking around for another kit and wanna make sure i get something good this time around. would be nice if someone will give a full review as far as launching goes (awd launches mainly cause that's the real test), what rpm you launched at, and how many miles ya have on it. if anyone can, please post this info. thanks!

IM still waiting on good weather conditions basicly. I just got the car tuned up pretty good to where im comfotorbal to beat on it..., but its crappy outside. Has been snowing/raining the past few days. the clutch holds, ill tell you that, and il gaurentee that it will hold on a launch. This clutch is awsome, i have no bad things to say about the CLUTCH itself.. the service on the other hand... thats a differant ball game. I just installed another SBR 3500 into a friends car this past weekend (evil1gdsm), so far he loves it as well.

Well...I'm just about done breaking in my SBR 3500 with my Findanza Flywheel...I'm liking it soo far..I will say the pedal pressure is about 20 % more than stock give or take..But i'm pretty happy with the results with it! I'm going to break it in a little more, then i'll post a vid of a nice launch for ya all...happy ryan.. :thumb: ...dan

I just ordered my SBR 3500. I will post my review when I get it in. Also coming ACT flywheel and TRE rebuild.

I also just got a SBR 3500.I had a brand new 2600 but sold it after reading about the disc problems.I guess I coud have kept the pressure plate but figured I wanted lighter pressure since do mostly thru traffic driving.I have had high pressure clutches in other cars and don't much care for them.I also don't want any chatter at all and don't want to have to change my driving style much either to suit a finicky clutch.
I have a new act flywheel also ,a slave extender rod and steel line.I have had a taboo fork on order since Oct 15/2004.No sign of it yet.I may just get new oem fork and install my clutch anyway. The sbr is supposed to be easier on hydraulics and the fork and stuff.

I hope I dont regret my decision and wonder if should have got the hd 4000.I hear its same pressure plate but different disc.I figure on having maybe 450 whp although could hit a bit higher with some spray down the road but just have to see how things go.

I should have my new 3500 in within a month or so.I am not 100% sure but currently can only get a 2.19 60ft out of my car.I would think it should do a bunch better than that.
I am pretty sure the clutch in the car is fubar. Its an unknown clutch. It has high pedal pressure so maybe its a worn out 2600 or something.Curious to find out whats up with it.

So curious to see how this SBR 3500 holds up under real world use.The disc does have more rivets for sure than the act.

getting my 3500 slapped in as we speak. I too will also post my results. for those of you that are breaking it in right now, how many miles are you going to run it before you beat on it? I loved the quality of the disc, plenty of beefy rivets, pretty light disc, and the mitsu tob is a plus!

Okay, I just finished installing the SBR 3500 clutch, ACT flyweel, and LSD. It feels awesome right now. Clutch engages close to the floor, but I'll adjust that tomorrow. Tomorrow, I'll be on my way to Florida and try out some launches. I'll be back on Monday and let everyone know how it holds up to some abuse. :p I'm already liking the lighter flywheel! Can't wait till after the 500 "easy miles" break in period.

I'll get a nice picture of my car on the beach.

Wow, Florida was fun, good weather. Anyways, the clutch worked out very well. I put it through its paces through the streets and freeways. Along with the LSD insert, the car just pulls. The only real difference with the flywheel I can feel is lower RPM response. I attribute that mostly due to the fact I haven't driven the car for about 8 months. I don't get any wheel hop or noticible torque steer. There was one time I thought I smelled burning clutch, but it turned out ot be brakes. Those are going on as soon as I finish rebuilding the calipers. The clutch just GRABS. The pedal pressure seems to be just a bit more than stock, but my memory of the stock clutch is 8 months old, so there might be a little leway. I've been happy with this combination. I plan on using a SBR clutch in my GSX as soon as the engine is ready to be put back in.

damn good clutch! I wanted to break it in for about the usual 500miles as your supposed with other clutchs but I could not wait that long.(no flaming b/c sbr says zero break in)
well on the way back from the shop I got on the highway and did a couple pulls and couple "high speed runs" when you down shift this clutch grabs like a mofo! Much better than I expected. slips wondrfull and engages oh so smooth. I used a braided line w/ the install so clutch feels not heavy but firm. pretty much like stock pedal pressure. I did a mild launch and does this thing grab! it slips just enough then you better hold on b/c when it grabs it grabs! overall I am satisfied w/my purchase.

yes and no. it is a cometition clutch, but as I was told by slowboy it is designed to slowboys specs. just call them and ask them they will gladly help you out.

Im pretty sure that the clutch disk itself is the same as the comp clutch kit. But i think the differance is all in the pressure plate.

This is the pic of the comp clutch disk. http://www.competitionclutch.com/pr...bishi+Eclipse+(1989-1992)+2.0L+4WD+(To+1/94)!

It looks exactly the same as my SBR clutch disk, right down to the CC logo. Its a really really nice disk. Lots of rivits! Just to let you know this is the sport compact "stage 2" clutch disk.

so then why is the 3500 clutch supposed to be a 2600 alternative, but using a 2100 clutch?
