Well when i start car and dont mess with it when it iddles it makes some weird like gurr and marble lose inthe clutch area and tranny area. So example turn car on leave it alone after a couple of second gurrrr sound but idles fine no smoke and blah blah. give it gas goes away. or if at iddles i press inthe clutch it goes away. but after i drive it for 10 minutes or warms up it goes away. what canit be? any suggestions?
engine spec
420a non turbo FWD.
also clutch was replaces like 2000 miles ago and after install never made noice. so can it be i have somthing lose inthere?

did you replace your throw out bearing when you did it?? if you didnt.......bad idea the chatter is probably caused by a bad throwout bearing...(if you didnt change it) that or te alighnment of the clutch is off but after 2000 miles the alignment problem is kinda irrelavent because it shouldve made the noise right away, what kind of clutch is it, i have a centerforce and ive heard theyre notorious for chatter, also a friend had chatter in his car for a period of about 2 weeks and all of a sudden, it was gone so....hope this helps

chris

This EXACT same thing is happening to my car. Only I have a clutch smell after driving it. My clutch might be adjusted to high though.

yeah throut bearing and flywheel were rplaced. what happens worst cascenerio. willl the clutch wera out faster than normal? if so like around what miles if driving nicely? if anything is 60000 miles a good milige if so im haveing the engine replaced after 30k mile engine trany and axles. so any imput is welcomed

how does your clutch pedal feel?? does it get a little stiffer after 10 mins of driving
?

naw it acutally feel very smooth like it always has. no change in feel at start or after driving. if anything this is the first car the wife can actually drive smoothly LOL

i have the same problem bro with my spec stage 1. people have told me that the clutch chatter was caused by the aftermarket throwout bearing and not to worry about it as long as u're ok with the sound for a couple of mins. However, after having my clutch installed for about 2 months now i have another problem. When standing at a stop and letting go off the clutch and pushing gas (in first gear that is), the clutch pedal feels like it's popping a couple of times plus it makes a popping or clicking sound. i do not believe it's the cv axle or anything like that b/c i can feel it in the clutch pedal. Any suggestions??

Hey Ive been having the same problem as you SKOOLZ. Im use to the TOB chatter but the new problem is the clutch pedal popping and clicking noise. I also feel it on the pedal too when pressing or releasing the clutch. Even when the car is turned off. Anyone know whats the deal?

Im new here by the way ... i have a 99 gs

i'm goin to a mechanic later on to get things checked out and then will deffinitely let u kno. Also, do u have a aftermarket clutch in ur car or a stock one 99silvergs?

alright i didn't quite make it to the mechanic today cuz i went to the drag strip and then out with friends but man i've this idea that it might have to do with the suspension, like the shock or so. what do u think?

Try pressing in the clutch pedal with the car turned off and listen to hear if u have that clicking noise. Mine still has it with the car on or off. But on certain days its not that bad and certain days its really annoying.

I dont think its the suspension cause it does it even with the car stopped and the e-brake up.

What kind of clutch do you have ? Skoolz

i see. i got a spec stage 1 clutch that came with the steel flywheel, so nothing to fancy. have you found anyone else with the same problem we have yet man?

yea there isn't really any answer to it but at least we know we're not the only ones with this annoying problem. i noticed that if i let off the clutch really slowly it won't do it as bad and that sometimes even if i press the brake it does it (slowing down). i also have replaced my slave cylinder about a month ago and that's, i think, when this started. therefore, i'm gonna bleed my clutch line again tomorrow and will let u kno if that solves anything. also thanx for that info on 2gnt since i'm not a member there.

well i kind of took a look under the pedal and the sound can be from the spring that pulls the clutch pedal back up or something under there. Im not exactly sure where the sound is coming from but i think its by the pedal. I just hate shoving myself under there so ill check when the weather is nicer.

I have no clue where the slave cylinder is so i cant check that .. LOL

yea i've checked that spring before too but as you said that weather here sux too. as far as the slave cylinder, you would know when it is bad i believe because the pedal would stick to the floor and not come back up. keep the ideas up ;)

hey man i went to a mechanic today and unfortunately he didn't have enough time to completely check out my problem but he said from what he heard it sounded like the driver's side cv axle. i'll kno for sure tomorrow.

Alright ... and how much is it to replace the cv thing?

I also have a different problem... whenever im stuck in traffic for a long time, my clutch seems to stick to the floor more and the engagement point get lower and lower.

Has this happaned to anyone one before? This only happens in a stop and go traffic.

Damn. do you know how much is it to change it?

you found out anything about the noise at the pedal yet?

you can find the slave cylinder at tomaseuroautoparts.com for $45 or you can buy it from the dealer for $102. As far as the noise man, my mechanic is working on it but just can't seem to figure it out. It's not the cv-axle for sure but it is something in either the suspension or the tranny. i also found out a bunch of other bad news about my car today that need to be taken care of soon. For example, my tranny needs to be rebuild, headgasket, intake manifold gasket, and oil pan gaskets are all gone and need to be replaced. :thumbdown and i got freakin blow-by!

so did you install the slave thing yourself?

hey i just installed my front and back motor mount inserts and its pretty cool. from first to second i can finally chirp and not get any wheelhop. the vibration isnt that bad too. havent tried 2nd to 3rd yet thought.

whats wrong with your tranny?

that's cool man, was it hard to install? my bearings inside the tranny are worn out and it's gonna eventually go out on me. hopefully that won't be too much to rebuild. do u kno ne thing about the neon tranny swap with the 355 gear ratio?
