I'm not sure if this should go here....but close enough. I have a 96 RS but am looking for a 2g with a 4g63 engine. Everyone I've talked to says that its a better block to start off with tuning (and cheaper in the long run!) Anyway, I found a GST for a really good price. Is it worth goin for the GST or is there a huge difference between the GST and the GSX??? Is the GSX worth holding out for????

Most people that have AWD, love it. And most people that have FWD (including myself), love it. What are your plans with the car. The AWD will get better traction. And the FWD will weigh less and have less drivetrain power loss. The decision is up to you. Dont pass up a really good deal though. :thumb: (i think you'll be happy with a gst)

if you want to launch like a camaro or better get a gsx if you like high speed acceleration and like going down the highway raceing corvettes new or old, stick with the gst and get a limited slip in the front. LOL the faces on the guys with there new $50k car getting smoked by an old ass eclipse is priceless. camaro and mustang guys faces are priceless when they are nothing more than hypes and think they are bad ass's because they have an 8 cyl. but they learn quick to respect the eclipse. i know my v-8 buddies have.

You have been on this site since July, Do you know how to use the search feature? If you did, And you searced for this... You would realize that every thread like this turns into a big war and just gets locked.

awd : You have the traction there stock.

fwd : You hafto buy all the parts to get traction.

i think that you will like either one.... nice thing about AWD is during the winter, everyone else has a hard time accelerating, and you just blow past them, driving like it is still summer time (well not TOTALLY like summer, but you get what i mean) FWD is nice for messing around with... you can burnout forever it seems, while AWD gives you a little chirp... you can make either one pretty fast, but every car has its limits.... like everyone else said, dont pass up a good deal... i went out looking for a 2G GST... and after finding nothing, i stopped at a place out of luck and saw a silver eclipse in a dealer lot.... i didnt care what it was (GST or GSX) i just bought it after looking at it for a while.

I would go with the GSX i love mine and yes the traction is much better.

Check the car out. If everything seems good, and you like the price, by all means go for it.

It also depends on what you want to do, like everyone else said. Are you a highway kind of guy, or do you prefer the track?

AWD has its advantages, as does FWD.

Well I bought my GST because it was in like new cond. & have extremely low k's on it, plus it was an alright price at the time. Sometimes I wish I has awd as its nice to make the car even more of a "sleeper" when u smoke a vette and ur tires dont even spin. But I dont think I would trade it now that Ive got it. It just takes a little more work to get traction. Get some nice soft tires in 225 or 235 width, urthane bushings, lsd & most of all learn how to drive. I personally have beat awd cars off the line, but it will take a while to get used to it. Also fwd is great for moving or highways races. I'd say go for it, if its a good deal.

yes, go for a good deal, since you don't have a specific goal for your car, you'll figure it out as you go along... but do the world a favor and don't post every car you find and ask if you should get it or not.

Let's see. I can get a really good car and try to make it great, or I can get the great version the factory already did for me, for less than a quarter of what it'd cost me to do myself.

What to do, what to do, what to do.
