well i have some of my new parts for my dsm but i have not got all my parts from slow boy yet (which it has been a week) and today on my way to school the clutch seemed to be sliping in 5th gear around 3500rpm. to about 3700rpm and then grab back to holding again. the thing i want to know is i was spose to take the car up on a 2 hour road trip to go tech inspect rally this weekend do you think the car will be ok or do the clutches just give out and i should park it and take my truck.

:laser:

boost will kill it fast, me personally.. i'm a dumbass and would take the risk. i'd keep the boost down and shift without the clutch (which is what i normally do by habbit anyways)

clutches normally have a degradation period before totally giving out, but i've seen one good burn take you from a slight slip to not going anywhere...

Does your clutch slip in 5th gear when you in boost? Or just in normal driving? That's the nice thing about turbo cars. Stay out of boost, and the car makes normal 4 cyl. power. You can drive a dsm on a slipping clutch forever. Just stay out of boost and you are fine.

yeah the car only does it in 4th or 5 gear in boost when it first comes on hard it slips a little then grabs back and holds strong.

the rally will be on snow so i think i will just get wheel spin when i do boost which is only 11psi in the the winter with a evo3 16g.

i might take the risk we will see how the car is doing i still have a week worth of driven everyday on the car to see.

Hey man, I drove my car a month with slipping clutch, and well worst of all a blown second gear. I drove several times (three hours) to IN from IL and back, and it will hold fine as long as you don't boost try to keep the shift under 4k and you'll be fine. just make sure you get it taken car of soon. !!! Not saying this was the best idea, I was just waiting to get my JDM 22 spline inspected and cleaned up.!!!

Hay Hazard how do you shift w/o using the clutch, I heard how to do it, you put it in neutral and then blip the throttle and it goes in? is that right?

yeah u just match rpm try and down shift first once you get good at that then go for the up shifts.

you just put a little presure on the gear you want once you are in neutral then blip the gas to get the rpm's to match. and it should go in. if you tranny is in bad shape i would just use the clutch cause u can cause problems if you do not do it right.

by the way i have a new clutch at home i am just waiting for the sbr lsd and some other parts. i wanted to pull the motor this weekend but all the parts are not in
