:dsm: :dsm: :dsm: About how much power can be pumped through a stock 1G turbo tranny for long reliable use. if its less than 400 what modifications will be needed???:dsm:

front wheel drive or all whee? big diffrence between the two. synchros wear out in both evenly, fwd's break alot of diffrentials if you have wheel hop. try team rip for mods to make it last, www.teamrip.com

its a FWD tranny. i am planning to put about 400-420hp through it and use the car for road racing frequently and a few runs at the strip every now and then with a 75 hp shot of nitrous. i want to be able to run it for about 15000 miles without any major work.

good luck, not to say it hasnt been done, but you have to be real careful. i personally have taken out 2 fwd gst trannys at the drag strip on cars making maybe only 300 horsepower at the crank. both times it was the spider gears in the diff. i have seen the same car later making 430 hp (dynoed) brake the input shaft in half, and then going on to destroy the new tranny once again after that from who knows what. i would at least get a quaife lsd, and try to do some suspenion work to get rid of wheel hop, i guess motor mounts do wonders for this too. also the lsd will help alot in road racing. for more upgrades try these guys www.teamrip.com

so what internal parts would i need to change out? and what are the weak points of it that i could strengthen before i put it in?
