1Gen n/t to turbo trannie swap

I have a 90 turbo and a 91 non turbo parts car and I am trying to figure out if the trannie will work in the turbo or if the gearing is different. Anyone know for sure your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Garrett 88 TSi 91 TSi 95 TSi

Yes the trans will bolt up as long as the spline count on the input shaft is the same. However, the shim/dust cover between the trans and engine are different so unbolt them from the n/t engine and use them.

It has been said though that the nt trans is not as strong as the turbo but I ran an nt on my turbo 6bolt for 6 months.

the nt trans is physically weaker, how much though depends on just how you drive yours and what sort of stress its been put through.

what you'll need:

nt tranny
nt flywheel (resurface this, don't worry no step on this one)
nt upgraded clutch (most likely act, best price i've found is www.clutchcityonline.com )
nt spacer (attachment points for starter are different between turbo and nt)
