92 tsi fwd 5spd. ACT2600clutch(only about 3,000miles.)

I was driving about a week ago and gave it gas and went to shift. When I shifted I heard a clunk. I pushed the clutch in and the car still drove.. Like the clutch actually was not pushed in, So I had to drive home without stopping, That was dangerous.

The next day I adjust the clutch pedal underneath the dash. The griding is gone in 1st and reverse, But it is a bit hard to shift into gear. So, I take it for a ride and at the top of my road, I took off alittle agressive, Letting the clutch out faster then normal. The clutch stuck to the floor and made a weird sounding noise. I coasted the car to the front of my house and then replaced the slave cylinder with a brand new one, And the longer slave cylinder rod. I go to start the car and it does not even start, It just clicks... Like the clutch wasent being pushed all the way to the floor. I bled the clutch correctly also.

The clutch got it's pedal pressure, Sort of. Right before the clutch gets to the floor, It is extremely hard to push any further. It is definatly not normal. Now, The bottom bolt that pulls the tranny to the engine, It slids right through the whole on the tranny and tightens into the block to pull it together there, The part it screws into on the block is snapped off now(Maybe explaining the clunk I heard.) So, When I push the clutch in, The tranny will move alittle bit, So what can I do about that? I hope to god they are not going to tell me I need a whole new engine just because that little piece is snapped off. It is still there, Just snapped off. Maybe they can weld it back to it's place? The car is going to be getting looked at hopefully in the next two days but I just want to try to figure out how much I will hafto spend on the car this time.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Please, If you view this and you think you have even the slightest idea of what is wrong, Please post!

This same thing happened to a buddy of mine. The throw-out bearing that ACT provides for their clutch's has a metal sleeve rather than a resin one that the oem throw-out bearing has. and can be harsh on the shaft it rides on when engaging/disengaging clutch it can shatter also, which is probably what happened to you. either way the tranny needs to come off, and upon inspection im sure you would fine that the throw out bearing is damaged, and should be replaced with a new oem TOB from mitsubishi. This should be the fix. lemme know what you find. pz :thumb: dont freak out, its a DSM hee he..

Is this a trick question?

When you push the clutch in the tranny moves a little bit, which means the clutch isn't fully disengaging because pushing down on the clutch pedal moves the tranny, not the clutch.

ok i brought the car home after it sitting two weeks and never getting looked at. I had to have my dad tow it home. Anyways, Here's the problem.

There isnt a 'heavy pedal pressure' like there should be with the act 2600. I tried to bleed my new slave cylinder but it was bled correctly already so there was no air in the system. There is no wetness on the floor in the interior, So i dont think it is the master cylinder.

When i pump my clutch then i let my foot off of the clutch, i put my hand behind the actual pedal I can move it upwards towards me about 2 or 2 1/2 inches. Is this a work out clutch pedal assembly? I do not want to buy one if that is not the case.

I cannot start the car, It just will click, Like the clutch isnt being engaged or something. When I unplug my neutral safety switch, The car still will not start either.

Any more help on what I can do? I have the car right in front of my house so I can try different things that arent to hard.

Thanks in advance.

I answered your question. Their is no easy way around it, you need to pull the tranny and replace the TOB, as im sure it is shattered. see if the pivot ball needs shimming, you can find all of this info on vfaq.com or www.taboospeedshop.com... and it also sounds like your clutch pedal assembly needs to be replaced. Im assuming in your post your saying you have 2-2 1/2 inches fo freeplay in the clutch pedal. I just replaced my pedal assembly, its not fun...hanging upside down but it is a pretty easy job..

ok, first of all, the tranny is NOT SUPPOSED TO MOVE!!!!!!!

the problem is that you forgot to put in the bolt that passes through the block, and screws into the bellhousing of the transmission. That metal on metal you are hearing is your transfercase slamming into your flywheel. i had this same problem and posted about it here http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141756

EDIT... just noticed you were fwd..... check this anyways!!!! could be the same thing except just not the transfercase??

here is a pic of all of the bolts, and there respected sizes
