So this may seem like the dumbest question ever but i'v been hearing mixed things latley. So i originatly thought that having say a stage five clutch, able to handle like 900 hp or what ever rediculas amount they handle with out having the power or atleast close to the power would end up being a bad thing. Like hurt the car or the engine or something. But the other day i was talking to a mechanic and he said the only thing that would be bad is having a clutch that handled less power then u were pushin, other then that it wouldn't mater if u had like a stage "10" for a stock GS. I was wondering which one is right? Help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Well, having a clutch that holds 900HP and only having say 300hp, nothing will get hurt but your drivability. It will grab really hard and wont have much slippage at all. No "feathering" so its not really a streetable clutch. He is right though that you want a clutch that will hold more HP then you have. Hope this helps.

i had a custom clutch made for my neon it was rated at 900 hp. but i only had about 400 so it was basically over kill. its hard to drive it was a custom 4 puck unsprung clutch. i got use to it after about a month but before that the only smooth way i could take off was to burn out. so i hope that helped you my advice is get a clutch that is rated for the power that you think you can make also no puck style clutchs.

tight thanks, for all the help, i'm gona be runnin between 500-700 after nituos, so i was thinkin about gettin the spec stage 5 iron disc clutch, so i was thinkin that would be high for my application, but if it doesn't mater then i'll be ok, i have driven crazy not featherable clutch's before. oh and this is way off topic but, what does a turbo timer do? I'v read what it does, but i don't see what's the main gain.
