My second gear has been grinding for some time when I shift to second quickely. Last week I went out to but the Penzoil Syncromesh after reading the various positive reviews and have been waiting for time to get it put in. Well about 5 minutes ago, I went to Jiffy Lube to get a price. Some kid that owns a jetta that works there is trying to tell me that I don't want to replace the tranny oil cause my car has too many miles (110,000) and it is used to the old oil. He was trying to say I have to be very gental with my transmission because it has a good chance of blowing up!?!?! Then he proceeds to say that I should sell my car and buy something else. I held my tongue, not wanting to start an arguement but this really pissed me off. I am pretty sure he is 100% wrong about everything but I just wanted to check with you guys. Somebody please tell me this kid is a dumb F@ck.

That guy is right. It is true, if you change tranny fluids at high mileage it has a chance of breaking. If your tranny has been serviced a couple times before it shouldnt be a problem.

edit: skimmed original post.

WRONG - you & the clown at Jiffy Lube are alluding to a phenomonon only present in unserviced AUTOMATIC Transmissions.

Thanks for all the input guys...by the way if any one cares I put the tranny oil in today and it makes a huge difference. Would definately recommend.
