2G manual center diff vs. automatic center diff?

ok, went to put my manual 2g awd tranny back together and it didnt go so smoothly. i put a 4spider center diff in and when we put the vc on it, it stuck out. it was no longer flush with the vc.

we put my buddy's vc on it, and it fit just fine, his vc was twice as thick as mine. then we went to put the end of the case on, and its not deep enough to go over the big vc. we then compared the end of his case, and its twice as deep. i bought this car with this tranny in it, so i dont know what it came from.

its obviously a manual, but is it possible to have a center diff and vc from an automatic?? or is it something else?? 1g and 2g should be the same. any ideas??

When you got your 4 spider diff did you use your original one or buy a different one????

I know when i replaced my center diff with one from a 93 the casing wasnt the same. I ended up having to take the new gears and put them in the old case. After that everything when smooth.

come to find out its from a 93-94 dodge colt minivan. crazy huh? i called TRE and the guy told me that most likely thats what it came out of.

so u dont have that black awd talon anymore?? back to fwd?? what color is it?

Ha ha i have always wanted a turbo mini van!!!. Oh and yes i traded my awd for a fwd. I love this car though. It only has 31K miles, a 99 and its a barcelona red pearl. I fell in love with it when i saw it but i already have some goodies on it to. After busting my center diff and having tranny problem i said f it and when back to fwd. One thing i do miss is the link. But it will be back

Oh and if your needed a VC i have one sitting in my garage. Most likely you found one but the one i have is in decent shape. Hey its better then a mini van one.
