Ok, this past weekend I broke a shift fork and I am in the process of taking apart the trans to replace the fork.
I took the snap ring off the VC and the damn thing won't slide off, Ive tried taping the the shaft in all directions to get the ball bearing to move to release the VC but have had no luck what so ever. Ive tried prying on the VC with a pry bar and still the ball bearing is locking it into place.

So for anyone that has had this problem with trying to pull the VC, please inlighten me on how to get it off, this is the 1st one that I have ran into that was stuck like this.

please help, thanks.

Some trannies it just slides off, other trannies its a bi***. I must have dissasembled my tranny a dozen times, and it never got easier. What I had to do is use two pry bars 180 degrees from each other carefully prying up at the same rate. THen another person has to tap the spined center diff input with a heavy hammer. You arent beating the shit out of it, just setting up some vibration/motion. After its flush with the VC, use an apporpriately sized socket (prefferably impact/deep) to continue. Dont pry to hard and crack the case, and dont beat the snot out of the shaft and damage something. It will take some time... SOmeone else may have a better way, but this is all I can get to work on stubborn VCs. Good luck.

mine had the same problem too .... luckily a strong gear puller fit and took it right off. Be carefull when just prying it so you don't crack the casing.
