Put new clutch in. Pedal is SOO HARD to push in, grabs real early. What to do?

OK, so I just finished putting my clutch in today. I had an exedy clutch that lasted 15k miles and is completley shot. But anyways...this is an OEM clutch(to my knowledge) and i swear I've never had to push a clutch in harder. I literally have to use just about all my force to push it in and my leg is definitley not weak I used to play soccer, and i ride dirtbikes/jetskis/snowboards so its not me. Also it grabs unbelievably early...as soon as I move my foot an inch it literally jumps out w/o using any gas....Is there anything that could be wrong or is this normal because its not broken into or what? I don't think its a heavy duty clutch or anything?? Any help is appreciated I'll be dead if i have to keep pushing this clutch in so hard.

hmm, don't know about the pedal pressure. But the clutch releasing problem could mean that you need to adjust your clutch pedal. Just a long shot, but when you put in the exedy clutch did you take outthe restrictor in the clutch line? I have no idea what that thing does but I know its a popular mod to do when your putting an aftermarket clutch in.That or a dying master/slave cylinder is all I can think of, then again I'm not a mechanic or anything?

Was the clutch fok seated proerly on the ball when it was reassembled? Was the retaining spring reinstalled on the new throwout bearing? Those are the only two thins I could think of.

Adjust the pedal first before trying anything else. It's probably just that. Mine felt the exact same way after I put in the new clutch. I recall pushing it really hard to get it to work before I knew about the adjustment. It felt like I was going to break it, probably because I was forcing it beyond its designed travel limits! Once I adjusted the pedal, everything went back to normal.
