90 rs turbo engine to a 91 talon tsi awd automatic

Hi guys I am new to this forum and fairly new to dsm. My first dsm was a 90 laser rs turbo 5 speed, my dad wrecked it and then I found a 91 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD for 800 bucks but with a blown engine.

I was just about ready to put the engine into the car when I ran into a problem, the crankshaft isnt the same where the drive plate bolts up. They both use 6 bolts but the one that was in the Talon is alot deeper than the one from the laser, so the torque converter wont fit. Is there anyway to solve this problem without changing the crank or without spending alot of $?

switch it to a 5 speed
it is realitivly easy to do and you have a donor car for all the parts except the tranny


i did it on my 91 an it wasn't too bad to do

I dont have the donor car anymore soon as the engine was yanked out i had it towed away I was tired of looking at the car I had once loved but now hated due to the fact it was in shambles. I had thought about doing a conversion to a 5 speed before but didnt want to go to that much trouble I just want to get my car running and then worry about all the mods later.

problem solved (had an experianced dsm mechanic come over and look at it he pulled the crank shaft bushing from the bad engine and put it on the good engine) car should be up and running next week.
